Daily Announcements

Benton High posts this list each school morning, prepared by the front office and counseling office. Today’s notices are below. The same list will remain on the website after the morning announcements.

General

  • Picture retakes will take place on Monday in the gym during every class period.
  • Project Graduation will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the library. Parents of seniors should attend.
  • The canned food drive will continue through Friday. Take items to your first-period teacher. The class with the highest count will earn a doughnut breakfast.
  • Today’s Lunch is chicken spaghetti with green beans and a roll. The salad bar is open.
  • Announcement submissions. A student or club sponsor must bring an item to the front office in writing one day before it should appear. Include the date, intended audience, and a contact person.

Athletics

  • The front office sells Bossier Parish football jamboree tickets for $5. Every spectator needs a ticket. Gate staff won’t accept LHSAA or Bossier Parish passes.
  • The Tigers will play Parkway at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Airline Stadium. Benton fans will use the west side seating.
  • On Tuesday and Thursday, girls’ soccer conditioning will start at 2:50 p.m. on the soccer field. Bring cleats and water.
  • Cross country will leave the gym parking lot at 3:15 p.m. on Friday for the parish meet.

Clubs and Organizations

  • Tiger Tech Robotics will meet at 7:15 a.m. Thursday in Room D-4. Students with an interest in robotics may attend. See Mr. Nelson for details.
  • Student Council will meet at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday in the library. Committee chairs should bring event reports.
  • The Spanish Club will sell pan dulce for $2 each Friday morning at the cafeteria entrance.
  • DECA members who will attend the district conference must submit permission forms to the sponsor by Friday.

Seniors

  • A representative from the cap-and-gown supplier will take orders in the cafeteria at 9:00 a.m. Thursday. Bring the order form and deposit.
  • Submit senior portraits to the yearbook staff by October 15. A late portrait won’t appear in the book.
  • File the FAFSA at StudentAid.gov. It governs federal aid and serves as the TOPS application. The counseling office will answer FAFSA questions during both lunch periods this week.
  • Juniors and seniors who want a place on the Homecoming and Prom Committee must sign up in Room B-7 by Friday.

How to use the announcements

Read the announcements every morning. One entry you skip can cost you a deadline, a club meeting, or a ticket to the game. The school also posts the day’s list on its website, so missing the morning read-through is not the end of it.

Parents are welcome to follow along as well. The announcements hand a parent a current, plain view of school life, the next home game one day and a FAFSA reminder the next. Got an item for the list? A student or a club sponsor brings it to the front office, in writing, the day before it needs to appear.
